This track is Britain's highest speedway track, up in the Derbyshire peaks. You can see for miles. And see the rain coming in. I jumped in with Ben Miller, in an Iveco van that was about the size of a two-bedroom flat in London. I got some good results in the Thunderbike heats - thirds and fourths - then saved my worst start for the final. Still, I had fun, managed to come into corners harder and looser than ever before and didn't crash. It rained again, but - because I'm racing two classes - I'd had enough by then.
Some bikes turned up I'd never seen before. Here are some shots.
