it's an OUTRAGE!
Humble hero of the classic On Any Sunday, Malcolm Smith is up in arms...
'In defiance of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 which prohibits the sale of youth motorcycles and ATVs deemed unhealthy for children under 12 due to suspected high-levels of lead content, motorcycle dealer Malcolm Smith will sell these banned vehicles as a sign of protest. As a sign of support, a group of small business people and high-profile motorcycle industry celebrities, including racers Jeff Ward and Jeremy McGrath, Glen Helen Raceway owner Bud Feldkamp, and motorsport design guru Troy Lee have all agreed to be on hand to purchase banned units for use by their own children and grandchildren.'

Thanks to Hell For Leather for the tip-off. Take your kids down there and let them SCREAM!
What's the world coming to? BP
If you had seen what SoCal looked like 20 years ago...OCIR, riding dirtbikes out the back of Laguna Canyon straight through what is now Aliso Viejo, Laguna Niguel...cows along PCH now multi-million dollar homes... in a state that spawned a ton of bike and hot rod industry you now are more likely to get the police called on you if you're welding/fabricating in your garage and heaven forbid you put your kid on the tank and take him down the road...or do a 2 am test run with the pipes open..."It's up to the parents to make sure children are involved in safe past-times" is what my sister in-law told me at the last family gathering
ReplyDeleteRelatively no-one does anything dirty here anymore, kids have over developed thumbs, but can't put a nail in a board to build a tree house without the building inspector coming to tell you to take it down.
It's just par for the course here in the land of fruits and nuts lately, putting our kids on a pedestal so they won't ever have to experience any pain, any fun...
It's getting more and more wierd here.
Roman
Same here Roman, nowhere on earth to run to, the nanny state is everywhere, I,m afraid our kids' are being denied the right to the true human experience.
ReplyDeleteLets say all the little people just carry on riding their 50cc pocket rockets through the undergrowth and across wilderness plains, how are the cops going to catch them? They will have to have a special midget-CHiPs task force.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great weekend's entertainment in it's own right.
BP
I'm not understanding this regulation. Where are the high levels of lead? Paint? Metal? Fuel?
