No, not a disastrous night with a fatally flawed inflatable friend, but the wonders of the four-stroke (and two-stroke) engine revealed by animated gifs. Look at that expansion pipe working its pressure-wave magic. I find these hypnotic. Click for slightly bigger versions (especially the stroker, else you can't see the whole pipe) then sit back and stare till you drool. MP
pass me the bong Michael
ReplyDeletepass the bong please Michael
ReplyDeleteThat second one (the 2-stroke) should lust be suck-bang-suck-bang. LOL
ReplyDeleteFloridaSteve: that's what I put two-stroke in brackets, I couldn't resist using that title. Thinking about it, the brilliance of the two-stroke can't easily be summed up in a few words.

ReplyDeleteNothing, nothing, nothing, BOOM!
Ciao Mick!

ReplyDeleteGood grief Diedre, I think you've had quite enough already.
ReplyDeleteCool! I had no idea about the two-smoke pressure wave and had no idea what the expansion chamber was for. Now I kinda know. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteEvery day is a school day.

ReplyDeletemaybe you can have this animation as a screensaver on your iPhone, then next time you're down the pub & say
"let me explain Suck Squeeze Bang Blow"
people wont run away.

iPhone? I've only just recently got a phone with a colour screen, and it doesn't even accept photos. Its coal consumption is very low, however.
ReplyDeleteSir Stanley Hooker was once quoted regarding the four stroke "It has one stroke to make power and three to wear the engine out!" Genius
