Tracks I've raced on

Buxton, Eastbourne, King's Lynn, Mildenhall, Newport, Peterborough, Redcar, Rye House, Scunthorpe, Stoke and Amman Valley (thanks KTL)
I bet Boastie (former speedway racer) has competed on virtually every UK speedway track.
These photos make me want to race loads of other UK tracks especially Belle Vue, Sheffield and the Isle of Wight.
These photos were nicked from Keep Turning Left blog where they have all UK speedway tracks in this format. GI

did you know there's a speedway track in oddly named Burnham Without, Somerset? - junction 22 of the M5 Only 40 minutes from me.
What's the procedure for adding it to our short track itinerary?

  3. Well, BP, it's down to Boastie and Jackie at Short Track UK. In the past they tried to spread the championship around, but the racers (a few seasons ago) didn't like going south of the Midlands, it seemed. So we didn't go back to Newport or Eastbourne because the entries dropped right off. It might be different now. The pool of riders is widening.
It's also down to which track owners will deal with us. Some have dog racing on, so they don't need us to rent their tracks. Some are run by weirdos. Some have problems with residents and noise limits.
I'd love to visit a new track every season, but then I like the ones we go to now as well. I'm just glad we have a scene at all and thanks thanks to Pete and Jackie. GI

a lot of the elite league tracks are very expensive aswell, which is a shame.

  5. You are right Steve! I have added Amman Valley to the Keep Turning Left blog so that Gary can complete his set. Out of interest which tracks are more suitable for flat track racing? I would have assumed that the bigger tracks like Peterborough & Kings Lynn would lend themselves to flat track more so than the smaller ones such as Buxton & Rye House.

  8. Is there ever any flat track racing at Ryde, Isle of Wight? The stadium is about two miles from me. I could hear the speedway bikes while sat on the john last night!
