Tuner Erv Kanemoto fettles the 2-stroke triple that Don Castro rode in 1975. The rip from those pipes on-song must have been ear bleed inducing. BPphoto Bert Shepard
Those things DID sound evil! Scott Brelsford's #19 Kaw in the back--this was another of Erv's bikes as well. Looks like #13 in back left, Rick Hocking at the time. He had one of the original 4 or 5 TZs at Indy in '75. That looks like it from the swingarm and shock set-up and pipes you can see in this shot. Mark Gardiner of RoadRacerX.com's Backmarker column is trying to hook-up with Erv to talk about those days. I just sent him a few shots to use when he gets his story done. Mark's been doing the write ups on the Werner Springsteen Bryan Smith #42 Kaws that stormed Indy and Springfield this year. He plans to do a story showing the Kaws from 75 and now 35 years later. Should be some great reading!
