ReplyDeleteWow, the Yam is really nice !!!
ReplyDeleteBetter draw in that missing power line between the forks and frame on that top pic. ;)
ReplyDeleteGood spot Anonymous! That pic is totally fake!
ReplyDeleteyes, but i hope "just for fun"..... :)
ReplyDeleteThe Yam is good and his Pilot I think that really race.....
;)
photo defiantly not a fake. i witnessed and took part in that awesome launch ramp session!
ReplyDeleteas an SR500 owner, i thought this was an badass shot when i first saw it. its unfortunate that the power line is not there.

ReplyDeletesorry BP (Ben ?).....
ReplyDeletebut I think that the Anonymous "referred" to the "Cable" in the top of the palace, this cable, don't "appears" between fork and frame....in that "blu corner" (which should be the sky...) and "mysteriously" re-appears on the bottom of the Motorcycle , in background attached "to its Pole"...
Understand ?
I repeat, for me is a Joke... no proplem.
Umm. I happen to have owned that bike and have pics of it mocked up as a street tracker 2 years prior with a different swing arm and seat. He did not fully build this bike on his own I sold it mostly mocked up with clip on handle bars and a different seat. Was going to build a cafe racer but decieded to sell it instead. The dead giveaway is the hole pattern by the rear brake master cylinder, the braided stainless steel lines, the tank, and several other items I will hold back. The items I am holding back do not show in the pics and I will divuldge if there is a dispute on who actually originally built the bike. Moral of the story is, do not claim you built a bike 100% if you didnt. I did 75% of that work and it was bought from me along with a TT500 and some other Yamaha 500 parts. Yeah I saw the video of it being asssembled but big deal. Who do you think put a XT500 tank on an SR500 anyway. It sure was not this guy.
ReplyDeleteThis bike was used as a mock up for my personal 2nd version which is a whole lot nicer, hence the sale. I sold the bike with the swingarm currently on it and the stock SR front end and kept the cool parts. It was also sold with stock SR500 shocks not the ones you see here. I will give credit to the brakes, rear shocks, fenders, seat, and foot pegs.
You should see how it looked with the billet tripple trees. I also had a FJ1200 front end on it for a short period of time. He was very interested in my version and wanted to know how it was built.
Oh yeah, the temp guage for the oil tank is not reliable and reads the wrong temp.
ReplyDeleteWhat a poser. First the photo shop jump and a guy I personally know built the bike. I have pics of this bike from 2009 in my email and can prove it.
ReplyDeleteBuilder my ass!
No s**t that bike is a friend of mines and it was in no way built by Thor. Pictures of the build going back to 2008 are avalible. The bike has run in several different configurations. Last time was with the current suspension, tank and wheels. This so called builder is a fraud.
ReplyDeleteCurrent info is flying around the web right now. Pics of the same bike exactally are online from 2 years ago Feb 5 2009.
First a missing power line then the real builder comes out of the wood work. What a bunch of BS
ReplyDeleteThought it was a joke. This bike was built in Scappoose and I rode it in street tracker trim. Saw it at the One Motorcycle Show tonight and know the bike. The bike was sold and not built by the current owner.
ReplyDeleteThe SR500 is on ADV Rider and a couple other message boards. The comments above are correct. Feel free to look for yourself.
ReplyDeleteToo many "Anonymuos"...in this post.... too many "disputes".... this is not the right Spirit ! Show more "feeling" to this Blog and its kind of "work"..... Show more right attitude !
ReplyDeleteIm usually not one to comment but this guy... Mr. "Anonymous" (i know his name) said he did most of the work which couldn't be farther from the truth. he sold me a heap of old parts for a fair deal and I built the bike from the ground up. As for the wire "oops" retouching mistake i can assure you the bike was jumped.
ReplyDeletethanks for the good comments! booo on you Mr. "Anonymous"
been trying to track down the wheels/ rims on this bike, would you be able to point me in the right direction. much appreciated. can't seem to find anything similar on google as i don't know what exactly to be searching for
ReplyDeleteHi Yada,
ReplyDeletethese will be the standard Yamaha mag wheels as fitted to the SR500 the road-going sister of the XT. (And others of the XS range but NB 16" for the rear on the factory 'custom'). They are quite heavy (as most mag wheels from this period). But they are cheap now at least.
BP
would they fit on a honda cb350? do you have a website where i could check them out?
ReplyDeletei tried to goggle them but unsure exactly again, what I should be looking for. tried mag wheels, sr500 wheels, etc and didn't get the results I wanted.
sorry to be such a pain, but loving the wheels you have on this bike and would love to have them on mine as well-- im sure it may take some additional modifications to complete this but i have all winter to work :D
