Glue sniffing meant a lot to me age 12, that whole miniaturized parallel universe thing. Having started with Airfix aged 8, I progressed to the far superior Tamiya. Didn't have much experience with the American kits. Customizing with bullet holes, dents, and general patina was my speciality. BP(photo courtesy from Motorparade)
UPDATE:
OK Who knew the American popular culture expression 'jumping the shark', originates from a melodramatic Happy Days scene in which Fonzie jumps over a tank of sharks on water skis. It is now used (according to Wikipedia) to denote the moment when a television series [or anything?] loses its credibility due to predictable repetition or contrived extensions of its theme, usually as a result of the writers being unable to maintain its quality indefinitely.
Oh dear, I'll be looking for that kit on Ebay now.

O'DEAR MEMORIES OF A MISSPENT YOUTH, SLOT CARS, CHOPPED AND CHANNELLED PLYMOUTH BACARUDU, NO BARRACUDA, BACARUDA. AND THE SMELL OF THAT GLUE AND LATER TISSUE PAPER AND YELLOW DOPE, WOW WE KNEW HOW TO LIVE, WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG?
ReplyDeleteI must have started at least a 100 plastic model kits. Don't think I've ever finished one...

ReplyDeletethis would indicate you were working far to close to the gluing surface. Did you not get suspicious of the sensation of your head being clamped in a vice?

Unless you are a die hard Fonz fan I really wouldn't bother with the kit. The kit is pretty basic and the top end of the engine looks like nothing Triumph ever produced.

"HAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaay" (thumbs slowly parted and raised) Harley,
we're all die-hard fans of Fonzerelli here. But that is upsetting news about his top-end molding.

You can polish a turd (but it would take a braver man than me to tackle Mr Fonzerelli's top end):

ReplyDelete(I'm a little confused) but that's the square 'generator' head on your awesome model - also based on the Fonz kit???
BP
'tis indeed a generator head (what an educated chap you are Ben), but for "based on" read "threw most of it away and started again". I really don't get out enough.
