We mentioned a crash in the earlier Springfield Mile post. Dave found this video of it. Ouch. Get well soon everyone. I think that's Sammy Halbert flying through the air like a leather throwing star. G
The normal number for a GNC final is 18, but the AMA introduced a rule that allowed riders with a National number holder to play a joker, one time per season to allow them to join the back of a grid, even if they hadn't qualified. I think they might have had to already had qualified for a main that season. I don't know all the ins and outs, but that's the basic reason there are 19 on this grid. G
•Nichole Cheza: Well the mile started out awesome for us. I qualified 2nd overall. I got 4th in my heat with a great battle between Willie McCoy Jared Mees and Brandon Robinson. In the main I got an awesome holeshot from the 2nd row. Going into turn 1 Robinson and I got hooked together and we went down. I broke my lower back but should be feeling better within the next month or so. Thanks to all my friends family and sponsors for helping me. We were rolling good.
A great bunch of shots for The Mile lads, such a fast bit of dirt. Airfence clearly = less ouch.
ReplyDeleteOuch. That makes my crash on Saturday look mighty tame. Sounds like Nichole Cheza got the worst of it. Hope everyone's back racing soon.
ReplyDelete19 on the grid is pretty busy - but I notice the back row is a sole rider, do they usually have more then?
