Punk Snot Dead

From the current issue of Sideburn, as seen in the Ian 'Tiddler' Turner photo album, who knows what the rest of this famous '70s forecourt sticker says? (clue: 15 letters). BP

UPDATE.... Well done 70s kids Fingersinpies, Hot Shoe and The Mouldie.

I think it was "put a tiger in the tank" or something.

  2. Yes definitely Put A Tiger In Your Tank. Along with Bullet Hole stickers and Tigers Tails it was the reason kids got their Dad to go to an ESSO petrol station.

  3. "Put a Tiger in your tank!"
Esso adertising campaign in the mid 1960's through to the 1970's. Used to work part-time in an Esso petrol station serving petrol at weekends 1968 'ish. Mods used to fly 'Tiger tails' from the whip aerials and mirror stems on their scooters. Stickers and tails always in demand at school and would asked customers, if eligible, if they "wanted" their sticker or tail depending upon gallons of petrol and whether it was 2**, 3***, 4**** or 5***** (Stars denoted the amount of anti-knock tetraethyl lead and other additives).

  4. My Dad always went to the Regent garage, in the street, and used to get a couple of shots of upper cylinder lubricant, for the old Rover 75 4 light saloon KGC 113, WHY do I remember that regd. when I can't even remember the regd. of the van I drive now

  5. Nick, thanks for reminding me about Regent. In the 60s we cleared a bit of land at the back of my mates house and made a small oval to ride our pushbikes around speedway style. We used to wear our Regent t-shirts that had the Regent red, white and blue Regent logo that you could buy at their garages.
