Sideburn at Reilly Rocket next Thursday
Last week I managed to do a site visit to Reilly Rocket in North London and it's a cool place. They're putting on a BBQ for our release party too. No booze though. Tea, coffee and lovely tarts. Click here for details. GI

Ollie. He's in charge. He's from New Zealand and likes watching the Tour de France on the big screen in the afternoon. Go join him.

This is the Suzuki dealer Reilly Rocket is next to.
And this is Reilly Rocket. It will have new stickers on the window. We want to see some tasty bikes out here. Travis from Colorado is judging the show. Whichever bike he thinks is displaying the most radness takes home a big prize. Could be a chop, bobber, street tracker, hell, it could be a Lambretta or even a bicycle. Who knows what's going on in Travis's noodle?

Call of the Wild

The second instalment of the Stevie Gee gig review from last Friday's Guitar Wolf show in Islington. First instalment here.Guitar Wolf , Bass Wolf and Drum Wolf are the trio that form GUITAR WOLF! A leather-clad Japanese garage rock/ punk/ rockabilly trio formed in the 80s. They walk on stage sweating under the lights in black leather boots, jeans and jackets, all wearing sunglasses. Mr. Guitar Wolf walks on stage and spits on the floor. We’re in for a treat.
I am standing right by the speaker as the first distorted guitar clash almost rips my face off. I feel like I have been punched in the face by Satan’s own leather gloved fist. It’s raw power at its very rawest. The energy pours off the stage and hits the front of the crowd like a wave of blood, which is where I’m being thrown around deep in the pit. I am grinning from ear to ear. This is pure pleasure.
Mr. Guitar Wolf raises his guitar and shoots the crowd with a flurry of machine-gunned strums. It’s speedy speedy rock and roll power punk unleashed over distorted blues riffs. It’s hard to make out what Mr. Guitar Wolf is screeching about but it sounds incredible, it’s frenetic and dirty like a demolition derby. The guitar sound is smashed up wild and so so loud! Suddenly, Mr. Guitar Wolf starts pulling people onto the stage and climbing on top of them, it’s degenerating into a funny kind of carnage.
I bet they all carry switchblades and drink whisky out of leather boots, like I used to. I know for sure they are all riding their fire-spewing motorbikes straight down to hell and it seems the crowd here in North London is happy to follow them down. See you there.

The Reverend
The first story in Sideburn 8 was shot at the 11th hour. The usual mad shuffle to jig another issue together. Stories that had already been set happily in place were shunted to SB#9. Steve Red Max' new olde bike just had to be IN. A Norton Commando engine tyre-ironed into a 2-stroke 250 Bultaco Knight frame [corrected!]. Impossible? Yes! - unless you junk the gearbox and rig it as a single speed fixie. And if you, like Steve for the photo shoot, decide to ride it like a modern YZF250 crosser, that clutch is gonna burn baby burn. Dr's New Heart
Spent last night at the twin towers of the Co-Built empire, beholding such delights as Anthony's Narniaesque portal into the world of internal combustion, and Geoff's pantomime of man flu whilst watering his garden. So back to Kevlar Avenue and my very little garden now has a skank looking Rotax which is going to receive much cosmetic love from the Dr.
I raise my tea to the bedding of SB8 and wonder if Ben has recovered from his deranged straight 48hr final push?

ROLLERBURN
The good news keeps coming!
Sideburn magazine, the world’s most suave motorcycle magazine, is organising and promoting a one-off, cross-genre event to go down in history.
Rollerburn is a festival of two-wheeled death traps and roller derby vixens. On Saturday 19 November 2011, at Newark Showground, Nottinghamshire, we will host nine hours of family entertainment incorporating a full roller derby match, followed by the world’s first (and probably last) Indoor Rollerball drag race: three lightning fast racers riding three motorcycles towing three fearless roller girls. One winner.
One of the confirmed racers is Guy Martin, arguably Britain’s favourite bike racer, Isle of Man TT hero, star of TT 3D – Closer to the Edge and the BBC primetime series – The Boat That Guy Built. His attendance guarantees a sell-out crowd.
In addition we have an unforgettable live set from the UK’s premier garage punk ‘craperet’ act, The Stags; an invite-only show of the finest custom bikes; dealer stalls; bar and launch of Sideburn 9.
If you're a business looking to have a vendor stall or find out about sponsorship opportunities, get in touch with us. It's going to be wild.

Unicorn Sex Acts

I went to see Guitar Wolf with the world famous artist Stevie Gee on Friday night. he was very drunk when he said he would write a gig review. It's in two parts, first is the support band. GIUNICORN SEX ACTS
When Bo Ningen stepped onto the stage I knew we were about to witness something special. All the members of the Japanese four-piece are slender-bodied to the point of fragility, graceful in their movements and with long straight black hair. They looked like true wizards of psychedelia.
When they unleashed their sound, it was far from fragile. It was epic and mind-bending. I was very near the front and I immediately entered into a swirling vortex of cosmic energy. This doesn’t happen to me that much anymore, but it felt mystical and welcoming, like I was part of something special.
The drums were hard and heavy, with driving Sabbathesque riffs combined with swirling psychedelic lead guitar noise and deep bass sound. But it was the vocals that took the combination to another level. They were hauntingly ethereal and jerkily punk in equal measure: the reverb was so strong, the eerie melodies echoed around our heads for minutes afterwards.
I felt like I had experienced something unearthly and wild. Bo Ningen, you are rare creatures indeed, both familiar and original. Seeing them live was like watching a field of unicorns make love to the universe. A spectacle to behold. I just wish it could have lasted longer.
