F*ck CDs!

So said The Mummies. I took it to heart. I didn't buy a CD player or CD for about a decade after everyone else had them. Then I did and turned my back on vinyl until Johnny Alpha turned me back onto its charms. These are some of the records I've bought in the last month or so. Thanks Johnny! And thanks to Ivan les Terrible at Born Bad, Paris for selling me some beauties in the pile. G

right on! there's nothing like vinyl, especially like that moment in the junkshop/charity shop/proper record shop when you discover that gem and your heart does a little flutter, get your keyboard checked out mate, your 'u' seems to have been turned into a star, FUCK cd's!

When you buy a record there is a real sense of ownership, its a real thing that needs care and attention if you want it to last... not just a computer file that can be downloaded over and over. Even though the digital age has made all genres of music more accessable, ultimately, it has also devalued it.....

I did buy a CD Player years later than others too! And yes I 've lots of them now - but it was never the same like my meters of vinyl. Funny isn't it? I feel the same about my cassette player... I think we all threw lots of things in our life away, but my turntable and recordplayer is still since years in the basement. Time to go down and bring them back :-)

Some of my best times with music are still going through my vinyl and teeing up records to keep the flow going. OK, so these days I need reading glasses to decipher the spines and hit the gaps between album and EP tracks, but nothing beats having a beer on the go and an appreciative mate or two to hear your live set.
