Modified new XR1200

From a SB mate in the north of England

Hi Gary,
Hope you are keeping well

Just thought I would let you know about our latest project bike. We have gone and bought a XR1200 Harley and set about putting it on a diet and hopefully making it handle a little better.

Unlike most XR1200 buyers, we have eschewed the 'Scott Parker replica' style and are going for a more road circuit based look, similar to the Japanese 8-valve Harley featured on your blog hopefully.

Bodywork is all carbon fibre, and the air scoop has been enlarged by 2" to try to get a bit more air into the tiny airbox. Pipercross are making the filter for us and the 'Active Intake Valve' has been junked.

Exhaust will be a 2-1 lightweight affair, and hopefully we'll have it finished and running by the end of this month. I have attached a few pics of the bike as it stands now for your info.

One of the things I was looking for on this project was a professional looking front race plate, and found Tuff Plates on the web http://www.tuffplates.com/. Their plates are absolutely superb and very well made, and service was excellent. A front plate complete with sponsor name across the top is just US$25 (although they shipped by UPS which cost US$75!). These are laminated and shiny smooth in 2mm thick plastic, and definitely worth a look if you are looking for a professional finishing touch for dirt tracker plates.
Regards
Matt

I removed the other comment because it was full of spelling mistakes.
If you want parts, go to Matt who built the bike. His website is at the bottom of the post.
If you want the bike, I think it's Europe only, go to the official Harley site.
