Indonesia Street Tracker

Beijing earlier in the week, now Indonesia. This Street tracker thing is going wild. Can someone tell us why we're not rich yet? Anyway, love this little budget fella we were emailed today.

Dear people at Sideburn magazine, I'm Gifny Richata from Indonesia, and I just want to show you some pics of my recently built custom bike. It's a 1981 Kawa KZ200. I just want to share the joy I have building this bike and want to thank you for showing cool bikes through your blog & online magazine, which some of them really inspired me to build my own. I'm working as a concept artist/illustrator and started my own studio ( www.oraystudios.com ) and now with my friend Nandang, a mechanic who helped me building this bike, we're gonna start a small custom bike garage called Hajarbroxx motorcycles, and hopefully we'll gonna start making really cool bikes in near future... cheers, Gifny.

Bacon and egg loaf

Anyone who loves that trad biker fare of the bacon sarnie (or variations thereof, right up to the all day breakfast bap) would love this. It's a typically Neapolitan thing called casatiello, but my resourceful wife knows a place to get it here in Rome. It's a slightly sweet bread with egg, salami and ham mixed into the dough before baking. It's only done at Easter, hence the crazy egg on the top. This was the smallest they had - they can go to mental five and six eggers. We had it for Good Friday breakfast and it was a near-religious experience. MP

King's Lynn Practice 2

In it's pre-season colours (no Skooter Farm stickers) my Wood Rotax looked great right up to the minute the new back brake assembly came lose and I had to lay it down and prepare for BIG impact with the boards. And it was right in front of my mum, wife and kids who'd come along to see me. I'm still aching now, nearly a week later. I broke the bike's seat unit. Everything else will polish out. A new seat is on the way from the Red Max Speed Shop. This photo shows my Arai really needs it's sticker on the front otherwise it looks huge. LDV looks good, though, eh?
Remember, first race is at King's Lynn next Sunday. Come along, support the scene, buy a mag or T-shirt, watch the most breathless type of bike racing anywhere in the UK.

Adrenalin Moto XR1200

From UK-based XR1200/Buell specialist...

Just thought I'd drop you a line with some pics of our updated Xr1200 :) We decided to give the old girl a makeover during the winter and have gone for a bit of a Cal Rayborn XR750TT homage. We have fitted a Ducati 900SS style fairing but instead of the usual round headlight decided to fit stacked projector headlight and cold air ducts in the nose. The cold air duct links directly to a replacement air filter and replaces the stock airbox.
The seat is as used in the Italian XR1200 Trophy series but mounted onto a Harris Performance alloy subframe (too nice to hide really). Tank cover is the Jewel racer XLCR item and is more angular than the stock item which suits the bike better.
Mick at Paint My Ride in Darlington did the paint work for us in metallicblack and Forf Focus ST pearl orange, and it looks great in daylight :)
Other than that the spec is pretty much as before, and we'll be putting it up for sale after our open day on 10th April.
If you fancy coming to our open day we are here from 10am - 3pm and should have a few Buells and XR1200s in attendance along with Craig Jones' stunt bikes and a few goodies to show off.
Regards
Matt

Who is Thor Drake?

Well, we don't know the full answer, but we know he races budget vintage MX in the NW of the USA, because we posted this film of his. We know he organises shows up there too. And we know he's a Smoking Seagull, because he's in issue 5 of Sideburn with this cafe racered XR400 and his fellow Seagull brothers. His blog is great too.
Who is Thor? Don't know for sure, but he's definitely on our wavelength? GI

King's Lynn Practice 1

Short Track UK organised a pre-season practice at King's Lynn last week. A few new faces turned up, including young Eddie on this bike. He's a grasstracker and his dad had written to us a while ago. I think he's going to fly. I didn't get a photo of him, because when he was riding I was spannering, but he wears a stripy shirt like Dennis the Menace. Class Act.
It goes without saying beer crate paddock stands are where it's at.

Paul B has got to be one of the most keen club riders on the UK. The South African rode short track last year, on a Ducati Monster, till the lack of lock spat him off and he broke his collarbone. He also competes in evil enduros, like the Erzberg Rodeo and at the Manx GP (the amateur Isle of Man TT). When he's not doing that he's out on his trials bike. Follow his endless adventures at Speed Therapy. This year he's on a KTM Duke. It's really good to have him back.

Paul Harrison. I know I'm riding like a demon if I beat Paul. He's so smooth, but bloody fast. And he always seems to be in front of me. He turned up with this new framer, made my Cotterill in the UK. It seemed to be going well.

The Co-Built fellas, Anthony and Geoff shared a bike and hot shoe. Geoff (with the nu-rave kevlars) will be out on his own Co-Built soon. They build the 4130 frames, triple clamps and other bits. Then race them. There could be as many as four Co-Builts at some races this year. Order yours.

THE FIRST RACE IS APRIL 11 AT KING'S LYNN.FROM 1.

Sideburn's GI on Killer Diller

The Killer Diller radio show is the soundtrack playing in the background when I’m creating my half of Sideburn, working on my bikes, painting the house, running along the river, well pretty much all my life.
It’s a weekly, 90-minute internet radio show playing very obscure, but rocking records that fall in the categories of garage punk, surf, hard soul, punk, freakbeat, French yeah-yeah and psychedelia-tinged pop. If none of that sounds familiar, don’t worry it’s great stuff.
The show's host is Johnny Alpha, a good friend of Dave Skooter Farm. He’s been booked to play his immense and valuable record collection at festivals and clubs all over Europe and has been broadcasting a show a week for nearly a year. This week I was a guest and took some of my favourite records to mumble about.
Killer Diller runs on Czech beer and Sailor Jerry rum and Coke. It refuels with the best fry-up ever.
If you think Coldplay are the kipper's tits, then it’s probably not for you, but if you like a variety of different music genres you should dig it.
Let me know if you like what you hear. (keep yer trap shut if you don’t, I don’t want to hear it). GI

Download Killer Diller featuring Sideburn’s GI Or go to Johnny Alpha's Myspace to listen without downloading.
