Drogo's Red Max XS

Drogo's XS, now it's painted. Nice, eh? Pipes by Co-Built if you were wondering. Like the upside-down Sparto. G

Skateboard Soul

From Donald in Aus

Checked the mail and was surprised to find not one, but two copies of SB#7! Not sure why [Donald, you ordered and paid for two. Maybe a slip of the mouse], but a copy will be placed in a hermetically sealed container as a time capsule for future generations to enjoy.
Slapped a 'Northern Soul' sticker on my longboard to cover up some of the scratches.
Soon to have its own I'm sure. Thanks for another fine issue. I only wish I hadn't read it so quick, as it only makes the wait for SB#8 that much more agonizing. Oh well, Just another excuse to start re-reading issue #1 and work my way through the stack (and it is quite the stack now) again.

Full lock or Death

Jamie got in touch a while to say Sideburn's spirit had infected him and he was going to race short track. This is the first step...

Hey Gary,
You asked me to send pictures of the DT175 when I finished it so here goes!
I've done the whole thing on a non-existant budget (about £350 so far), and built it as a practice bike to learn how to slide until I can get something built that I can race on. When I started working on it every time I fixed something, another thing broke, so I ended up naming it 'The Bastard'.. I also painted 'Full Lock or Death' on the tank to remind me to grow some balls when I ride and just got for it!
I'll be at Rye House on Sunday crash testing it. Think I might have just bought a 1987 XR600 for my race project too. Until I think of a better name for it I'll call it 'The Bastard II'..
Hopefully see you Sunday if you're around.
Cheers, Jamie

Jamie, is that a front brake cable?

New Zombie Sweat & Print

We included it on the merchandise page of Sideburn 7 and it's here at last - the Zombie Hilts designed by Maxwell Paternoster of Corpses From Hell.
Yep, that's a dead nartzee on his petrol tank.
The sweatshirt is available in sport grey (aka grey melee). It is printed on a good quality Fruit of the Loom sweat with Raglan sleeves. S to XL.
£22 plus postage.

We've also done a limited run of A3-sized prints on 300gsm recycled brown card. The print is £6 plus postage, order both here at the same time and save on post.

Troy!

Just in from Paolo at Zaeta...

'Look who visited me in Bielle Roventi booth in Rome (by the way 103k visitors is worth being there). He said he will like to ride it in May or June.'
[It's Ducati legend Troy Bayliss, by the way]

Lazer Tits

LAZER TITS is blog of the week. BP

Prep

New Maxxis DTR-1 CD5 rear tyre; new Mikuni; new method of zip-tying (learnt from road race teams - insert a little bit of poly pipe to stop the brake line from chafing), clean-up; re-grease. Nearly ready for Sunday.

HEY, UK Short trackers, anyone got an old Maxxis front they don't need? Sideburn's mate Carl at CFM is modifying a bike to practice on and needs a tyre. Please bring on Sunday if you have anything. Thanks. GI

Project RE progress

Tyler at Lowbrow Customs and one of his trusted suppliers, David Bird, have sent us bolt-on hardtail tubes and axle plates for the Sideburn Royal Enfield. They're beautiful quality (though my phone pic isn't). They're made for a Triumph, but Co-Built are going to make sure they fit our Enfield.
Big thanks Lowbrow and David Bird. G

Aldana in the UK

We mentioned it a while ago, but the details are now all sorted. Racing legend David Aldana is coming to England for three days.

Day 1.
Thursday 5 May
Sideburn night at Kidlington Social Club, Oxford OX5 1AT.
David will be telling some of his best stories from a life winning (and crashing out of) the world's biggest races. There are only 100 or so tickets available for this. Guarantee yours by buying from our webshop
More details on the evening on the red poster.

Day 2.
Friday 6 May
Aldana competes in UK Short Track at Oxford
David will be lining up on a Suzuki 450 framer to take on the best of Europe's short track racers under the floodlights at Oxford Speedway Stadium. This is a full UK GNC round with support classes including the Thunderbikes. More details on the blue poster.

Day 3. Aldana has left the country.

This is an exclusive trip organised by Short Track UK and supported by Sideburn, Co-Built and the series sponsors. It follows two visits from Chris Carr. If people support these events we can keep making them happen. We have a wish list of riders we want to work through.
Download the posters (beautiful artwork by Adi at 99Seconds), email them around, put them on your blogs, spread the word.

Want to know why you really should be there? Read the AMA Hall of Fame David Aldana page.

UPDATE: the original posters had the wrong dates (my fault). These are right. G
UPDATE 2: Every order gets two Aldana stickers not currently available any other way.
UPDATE 3: David has emailed to say he's bringing a load of stuff to auction off. He says: "i'm bringing bsa team photos, Trans atlantic 1970's 80's jackets, bmw battle of legends shirt, old style aldana tees
tri -bsa national winners posters, pilot leathers tees and stickers, racing leather siut and helmets, kaw team shirt with eddie lawson, factory team honda jacket, Trans atlantic team photos..."
