Really digging these two over the holidays. I've read a lot of Elmore Leonard and this is by far the best. Based in Detroit in WWII. Amazing that someone who has been writing books as long as EL has can still pull it out of the bag. Very inspiring.
The Black Lips are a great new discovery for me. They have a garage band feel, but are hard to pigeon-hole. Veni, Vidi, Vici is a killer track. They're touring Europe and the USA in Feb/Mar. GI

played with the black lips in notts a few years ago and they started off really terrible but the more drunk they got the tighter and better they got????
was dissapointed there was no on stage vomiting or pissing on each other as they were apparently accustomed to doing at the time tho.
