Ian's street tracker

'Finally managed to get your great mag (from the Magazine Man) after a month of looking. Received issues 1 and 3, really good, like the style. Jay Springsteen is one of my heroes so was great to read the feature, also enjoyed the Hayden interview, been lucky enough to meet some of those guys at Daytona some years back. In the meantime look forward to receiving issue no. 2. Hope you guys are around for a long time. I have attached some piccies of my Harley Flat tracker , which I have changed a few bits on since this photo.'

What is the setup with the exhaust outlets? (bottom pic)
Are they just plugged because it is stationary, or permanently blocked off like that?
Haven't seen it before is all.

the pipes are supertrapps mate, they are blanked off at the end but use diffuser discs to allow the exhaust gases to escape, disc has a has a couple of raised pips on themto form a gap between them, you can add more discs for top end power, [and noise], or less for more torque depending on the tune of the engine, they were originally developed by the u.s.a forestry commission for use on their generators, the blank on the end of the pipes act as a spark arrestor to prevent forest fires, someone then saw thebenefit of using them in motorsport and there you go, theres a set on uk ebay at the moment for just over £500, mine cost me over £900!, gutted, hope this helps, tim, loveless engineering blogspot.
