Doesn't this shot make you want to race?

I know I'm in it, but this photo really does it for me. There are three cool framers and Simon's ER-6 racer, three Arai lids, scuffed leathers, fat tyres, big bars, little tanks... I know DTX bikes are an increasingly big part of the flat track world and without them there'd be no scene in the UK, but I'm a purist and framers are where it's at. GI

You're saying exclude anyone from getting into the sport unless they have a framer?

That is fucked up.

Not all of can afford a kit bike, and it is more likely that someone choosing to race flat track will have access to a DTX bike than a bespoke framer.

No offence, but that is the way it appears to me.

And to answer to question "Yep".

OSR - What are you talking about? Are you referring to the original post of Knucklehead's comment? I admitted in the post that there'd be no UK scene without DTX bikes, I just like framers. They're pure, they're historical, they look better (in my opinion).
And as for excluding people, yeah, that's what Sideburn is all about obviously - excluding people and keeping this sport secret and never trying to encourage people to get involved. Basically we'd be happy if we were the only bike out there and no one ever bought the mag or the T-shirts. In fact, the sooner the UK race scene dies so we've got it all to ourselves the better. Yep, you hit the nail on the head there. GI

DTX bikes are generally cheaper and faster - it's the modern evolution of the sport... but framers are waaaaaay cooler!

Need a class structure that will satisfy most budgets, skills and tastes (without bias to a manufacturer) - aesthetics comes into the equation too.

Framers rule, but DTX bikes are the future.

blah, blah, blah....

Hell Yeah! I've got a similar shot of taken on the dummy grid at my first road race, I still feel the butterflies when I look at it!
