Shame they're made out of aluminium and ruin easily. Lots of stainless versions out there that are (IMHO) better.

Corroding aluminium gave me senility paranoia for a moment, so I did some research on the interwebs and concluded it does Not cause Alzheimer's.
What was I just talking about?

Mick, the important thing is that you must *never* wash it: the coffee "patina" that builds up over time protects the aluminium and guarantees great taste. Also, if you enjoy those, you may really like the naples style flip pot http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neapolitan_flip_coffee_pot
Ciao!

We have two aluminium ones, one stainless and we use them all, no problem. They get washed but NEVER with soap, just rinsed. The biggest no-no is leaving the aluminium ones sitting unopened after use for a day or more, because the alloy in the water compartment really suffers.
