Distinguished Gentleman's Ride photos

Who can forgive a Virago full dresser? Ever? Well I say when the rider is wearing a 3-piece suit and smoking Players finest shag, from a proper walnut pipe while carving up Marble Arch in central London, you do. This fellow and 55-odd others riding everything from a mint Honda SL185 to a faux rusty, cast-iron clad VFR street fighter, and wearing everything from tailor-made Harris tweed to highly inflammable polyester, met up in NW5 for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride before ripping across town. Here are some snaps I made off the back of Geoff Co-Built's scooter. It was quite a bizarre ego boost to have lines of tourists in Camden, Chelsea, Oxford Street; well everywhere, all with their iPhones held up to relay the action. BP

Chris Bonington the famous explorer was there too.

There were kittens too. Fast kittens on their own bikes.

Damnably chappish show old boy, spiffing in fact.

That's my brother on the Virago :D

He had an awesome time, first for a bike meet and felt very welcome, we both had a great time.

Ben, are you hosting the rest of your snaps anywhere?

Hi Tom,
Yes it was a jolly. I'll put up a few more here in coming days, and our Facebook page at some point (click the button top right here).

Wonderful I'll keep an eye out. There's a spot on my wall ready for one.

Could be any day in Rome. Remember seeing a very dapper bloke in a slick suit and high-grade brogue shoes wheelie a Supermotard away from the lights on the embankment. Classy.

And naughty burnouts :D

It was a top day it must be said. And great to see people's reactions - no scowling or looks of annoyance – just people smiling and filming us on their phones and kids waving at us. Priceless.

And Chris Bonnington did look sharp! ;)

Cheers

Gentlemen don't do burnouts Tom, they make discrete smokescreens when there is a risk of gusts of wind exposing a Lady's ankles or her delicate lady bloomers..
