19" Rubber Fetish

So GI and BP are pretty much agreed on the major and minor styling points of our FT, but what rubber to wear? Olde worlde Dunlop K70; el cheapo Cheng Shin C186; fashionable Firestone Blackwall; trad Dunlop K180; or modern Maxxis DTR1?

For looks alone, nothing beats the K180's, even if the Maxxis seem to be the most popular race tire here in Europe.

Depending on your rim sizes - is your rear wheel an 18-incher? If so, there is a road approved version of the K180's in a 19 front/18 rear combo.

Firestones are more of café racer/bobber tire IMHO.

Cheng Shin? Hm...no. It just sounds wrong.

K180's get my vote.

I'd say 2 or 4 for a "sideburn" bike... They're more what I'd expect on a dirt tracker.

I would also consider Heidenau tires

They have a 19 inch vintage racing tire. Check out the k34 rsw

I`m voting for the K180s , because I want to find out where you can get 19"ers from in the UK.

Buy some of these fellas and write 'Pirelli' on the side: https://www.domiracer.com/Comersus/Store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=98365

Perfect. Although they may look a bit strange with the cast wheels. Er, and I'm not sure how well they would deal with corners. Or straights come to think of it.

Sorry guys,

I thought we were talking about 19 inchers. The k180's are only available in a 19inch front and those fake pirelli's only as a 18 inchers.....

Russ, I have heard bad things about the quality of Duros... explains the price. Good find though
