Falcone cafe
On an uncharacteristically gloomy day in Rome, spotted this Guzzi special, lining up to take part in the annual retracing (ie, parade) of the old Monte Mario race route around Rome centre, organised by the Moto Guzzi Club Roma. The bike's based on an early Seventies Nuovo Falcone motor and frame, but has an exhaust in the style of the original Falcone (tasty fishtail). Problems fashioning a dash? Nothing that a slab of marine ply can't sort. That headlight looks like it's off the Sahara version of the Nuovo Falcone. Concours? No grazie. MP

Cool enough, MP. You well? Any good pics lying around of a sahara? it tickles my fancy...
suerte, dw
Wood is Good!
What's the curious intravenous drip held in place with garden twine?
BP
Ah, Mr W. Coincidentally, there's a Sahara in the background of the first pic, but you can't see much of it. It's not much more than a military-spec Falcone painted, ahem, sand-coloured, and with a bit of Arabic writing on the sidepanel.
BP - the twine is just there to hold on his competition plate. The tube looks like a fuel breather with a filter fitted to it. Or is that a one-way valve? Showing my Falcone ignorance...
What a great bike! Falcones are a little scarce in the US but I could see myself building one like this as a long-term primary ride. Thanks for blogging it -- basic, and inspiring.
