A couple of weeks ago the AMA GNC had its first rain-off of the year. Shame, as they had the sense to organise a race near Sturgis during the bike week. They got through the whole program except for the finals. Chris Carr was number one qualifier for this half-mile.
Fact 1. If he'd have scored a podium it would've been his 200th in the top flight. Hopefully he'll do it this weekend.
Fact 2. All 18 Pro GNC Twins main event qualifiers were XR750s.

Wash yourself in immence joy by making a bracket from a bit of scrap metal. No CNC machine necessary. No credit card necessary. No eBay necessary. Just the eye of the sculptor who can release the form from within. A junior hacksaw and a file are handy.

(this little fella is for a speedo pick-up which will sit on the inside-leg of the fork, where it will read the rotating marker on the wheel rim. The little holes aren't for lightness, they're so the Araldite glue gets a better footing. The tiny Sekonic Sport speedo is designed for mountain bike use, but is good for 999mph (apparently) and has settings for time / trip / average speed etc etc)

The Stags - Do the Ton

Don't know why it's taken so long to post this, but my fellow Skooter Farmer - the original Skooter Farmer - Dave Arnold is a multi-talented individual. As well as being the driving force being Britain's premier dirt track racing team he's in The Stags. The Hammond organ-drenched blasts through a few different genres of 60s freakbeat including garage, beat, Mod-Instros, R&B, R'N'R and Power Pop.
I'm listening to the new LP Do the Ton (on Soundflat Records) right now and it's fantastic. I bought it on vinyl, but it's out on iTunes too, for all you astronauts out there (search 'The Stags'. Er, Duh).

Running on empty

Dealing with every aspect of the Sideburn business means we notice every little up and down. There is no filter. We write the envelopes, walk to the post office, the whole thing. So, we notice when there's a rush on Dick Mann T-shirts. I counted up and we have 19 left. Once they're gone, they're gone. We like the idea that Sideburn stuff will become collectible to some and a little significant to those who are in at the beginning.
