Brian Auger And The Trinity

DJ Dave Taylor, who will be spinning rare grooves at Dirt Quake this weekend, sent this beauty through to get me even more in the mood for this weekend's party.
There were some incredible Hammond groovers coming out of Britain in the late-60s, but this one, played by Auger, clearly a cross between Marty Feldman and Malcolm Allison takes the cake.
Start practising your choreographed dance moves NOW! G

Brian Auger formed a group called Steampacket in the mid 60s with a singer called Rod Stewart. I don't think he ever amounted to much though.

Clearly a lot in common with the Isle of Man steampacket, the worlds oldest shipping company, similarly never amounted to much, maybe that is where the I am Sailing analogy originated, maybe oldest ships, oldest singers but modern price tags....Now who was it sounded similar on the Hammond Organ......The Spencer Davis Group...maybe not

Brian knew how to get into a groove and cut great tracks - I loved his stuff with the Trinity and Julie Driscoll
