Jeff Wright's view on the world

Jeff Wright (Church of Choppers, FTWCo) sent these photos and a note...

'I want to do a story on these guys....
Matt George and John Kite...John is the guy behind the RS...He was the first to take the cx and put it sideways in the frame and race it.'

I'll read it, fascinated by the weird/cool sideways CX's, more pics and info the better.

The top shot of Aaron King's #40 Aprilia is the bike he tried to qualify for the Springfield Mile I round in late May '11. Unfortunately he finished 15th in the 16 rider heat to miss making the National that day (rain-delayed event where they ran 3 heats of 6 winners to make the 18 rider National main.)
Great looking bike, not sure what the motor is (not being acquainted enough with the Aprilia line-up). His Dad Rich was on-hand helping out as he usually is at the Nationals.

I always thought that Jerry Griffiths was the original man to take the Honda CX and make a v-twin 750 out of it. He was the man in charge of Honda's romp on the American scene when they originally started working on developing a bike in the late '70s. He's also Doug Chandler's father-in-law.

Great stuff from the Sideburn guys as always!

Hi StuMan
We even put in SB9, in a feature written by Don at Metro about Bubba Shobert's RS750, that Jerry Griffith put the CX500, so it sounds you were right. Perhaps John Kite was involved. I don't know enough about the history of it.
