In fact, the band took its moniker from Ron's racing nickname. While dicing with opponents, he was fond of reaching into a small pigskin pouch attached to his midriff and casting behind him handfuls of Scoggins' Lightning Crystals, which would erupt in off-putting burts of bright-white fire. By 1932 he was banned by all major racing authorities and never rode again.
