Distinguished Gentleman's Ride photos

Who can forgive a Virago full dresser? Ever? Well I say when the rider is wearing a 3-piece suit and smoking Players finest shag, from a proper walnut pipe while carving up Marble Arch in central London, you do. This fellow and 55-odd others riding everything from a mint Honda SL185 to a faux rusty, cast-iron clad VFR street fighter, and wearing everything from tailor-made Harris tweed to highly inflammable polyester, met up in NW5 for the Distinguished Gentleman's Ride before ripping across town. Here are some snaps I made off the back of Geoff Co-Built's scooter. It was quite a bizarre ego boost to have lines of tourists in Camden, Chelsea, Oxford Street; well everywhere, all with their iPhones held up to relay the action. BP

Distinguished Gent's Ride - Update

There are more details of the London one (organised by The Bike Shed) and Corpses from Hell have set up a ride in Sheffield - THIS SUNDAY.
Paolo from the most gorgeous (newsstand) motorcycle magazine in the world, Riders, is attending the London one with a photographer, so you could get your mug in that wonderful Italian mag.
I'm hoping there will be some distinguished ladies too...

Dr Ogo, Co-Built, BP and I are dusting off our tweeds for London.

Sideburn Award Verona

We were honored to be asked to nominate a 'Sideburn Award' for the bike of our choice out of the zillion on show at this years Verona Motorbike Expo. Choosing a top 10 was fairly easy, but it was a close shave to the wining post. Danny Hard 9's sparkly Cub pipped it - now featured in SB#10Danny on the podium, uneasy at being the denim filling in a tweed sandwich. Photo from Freeway magazine. BP

Verona 2012

Another nutty one, great meeting of the clans, old faces, and new, but now we're all feeling as green as the K'wack below. More photos to follow when we get discharged from sickbay. Dave - a non-drinker cadged some water-soluble Codeine which he necked with a cup of Vodka we had stashed in an old mineral water bottle. Party on Dave.
We were sharing a hotel with Jesse James, Arlen Ness, and Exile Cycles' Russell Mitchell - did Dave get any bemused looks at the breakfast buffet? just a few, especially when each day he topped up his record boxes with extra yogurt and custard croissants as a show picnic. BPOur biggest Thank You goes to Mr Martini for hosting such a great party on Friday night.

Headcoat and Handlebar

Few things shout 'suave' and 'gentleman' as loudly as a freshly waxed handlebar moustache and a deerstalker headcoat. Forget all these scruffy beards, dirty jeans and tattoos and get some tweed in your life. GI

AMENDMENT: Just remembered I got the handlebar page from Satan's Crate. Credit where it's due
