Sideburn 24 and DTRA Launch at The Bike Shed

Apologies for taking so long to post this, a full two weeks after the event, but it's here now.
The day before the Rye House DTRA season opener we were invited to have an afternoon event, the Sideburn 24 and DTRA 2016 season launch, at the Bike Shed's HQ in London.
A bunch of out of towners made a special journey to check out the recently opened bike-centric lifestyle hub for the first time. A steady stream a cool and quirky bikes arrived too. One of the Bike Shed staff said it was the busiest day they'd had.
Thanks to everyone who made it down, especially Team Co-Built for bringing their gorgeous race bikes.
And massive thanks to Toria Jaymes for the super-sized cover painting. More on that soon. G

Amaro and Walden's Joyride

This is so clever. I originally saw a very short gif on the Death Spray Blog, but didn't see a link to where it came from, then found it via Le Container.

Joyride was made by a London-based collective of artist, designers and animators called The Line.
It has a mature rating, so if you're mature, then watch it before you share it with anyone.

Bike Shed Motorcycle Club

In just two and a half years Vikki, Dutch and Bike Shed crew have hosted four London bike shows and one in Paris. They are unstoppable. And now they have just opened their first full-time venue in the heart of Shoreditch. Behind a modest entrance, next to a small tattoo shop, a very impressive 10,000sq feet space filling three big arches under the East London railway line. Functioning as cafe, bar, restaurant, shop, gallery, barbershop and exhibition space.

There's nothing else like it in London - or Britain actually. Congratulations! BSMC is marinated in professionalism but with zero whiff of corporation, the attitude is very easy going. We wish them all the best. BP

Malle Mile

The Malle Mile looks like it could be quite a spectacle. After the most hectic few weeks in Sideburn history we can't make it, double-booked, but get along and support this new event if you can. G

Bike Shed 2015

Sideburn is going to be there with a joint Sideburn/DTRA display.
There will be another 130 bikes, good coffee, barbers, art, interesting people...

Underdog Show, London

We are involved in a small event down at the Underdog Gallery next weekend and was wondering if you could do us a big favour and stick the flyer up on your social media? It's basically gonna be an art show with live bands, DJ sets and we are putting a mini bike show on of around 10 bikes plus a pop up shop.

London

Because of two Dirt Quakes in two months (in two continents) and going from three to four issues per year, the bigger features I used to put on the blog have taken a back seat, but the blog is still updated at least every day (4600 posts and counting).

I've been meaning to post this since the middle of April! But you all get enough instant gratification nowadays, so it hardly matters.
Anyway, I had to visit London for day job stuff and took the opportunity to visit some of Sideburn's supporters.

Bolt London

First up is Bolt London. Based under a railway arch in the London Fields (out East) and the idea of Andrew Almond, Bolt sells Biltwell lids,  Eat Dust, La Rocka, Black Skulls, The Real Intellectuals, their own Bolt T-shirts, old leather jackets, artwork, books and 'accessories'.

 Kingdom of Kicks

Next it was the short ride to Hackney Wick to visit Kingdom of Kicks. The bossman, James was away, but Rory was in working and let me snoop about. The space is one-third retail, two-thirds workshop.
They flog Blitz x Edwin; Eat Dust; Black Skulls; Chester Belter; Kingdom of Kicks, some Laborataire Bon Zorro... They build bikes too.
Check opening times before visiting, the mainly have weekend openings...

Lurking at K/K was the mighty Maxwell Paternoster and his CR250.

Muff Customs

Just around the corner, two minutes walk from K/K, is Muff Customs. A cafe, with bike workshop. A nice place to hang-out just over the canal from the Olympic stadium.
They sell food, great coffee, local beer; hold events; stock Sideburn and a range of Deus Ex Machina clothes...

Me on my faithful old Speed Triple (still on its Dirt Quake II Conti TKC80s. They're taking some wearing out). Just realised I'm flying the (black) flag for some of our advertisers - Edwin trousers, Icon 1000 Beltway jacket, Kriega R35 rucksack. G
