It's Mashed Potato Time

Oh, yea, off-topic Sunday! There are few things I like more than some well mashed potatoes (and there are few thing more disappointing than a dollop of bad mash in a good restaurant), so I was intrigued to find what Dee Dee Sharp had to say on the subject.
Unfortunately, I didn't catch a word of Ms Sharp's lecture, because I was completely mesmerised, hypnotised, perhaps even emulsified by those backing dancers. Enjoy! G

Shepherds Pie, The Lunch of Champions

Andy Jerkyl once berated me in the pits for my choice of nutrients to fuel my body on race day. Something to do with how much energy my body would consume to digest the food I was consuming to give me energy, and so become more fatigued rather than less. Yes I was confused too. Apparently chimpanzees are better prepared for motorsports with their nuts, berries and bananas diet than me with crisps and apple juice. Extreme sports favourite sponsors so-called energy drinks are The worst consumable to be fuelling sporting humans - "save them for the dance floor".
And so to last weekend's packed lunch. Half a shepherd's pie with mustard and apple sauce. I threw in frozen peas before leaving the house, so come lunch time they had cooked themselves (well de-frosted at least) in the chalor of the van. BP

Hot cock

When I’m working late helping to put together another issue of Sideburn, one thing that keeps me going is the taste of hot cock. And if it’s hot Jamaican cock, well, that really gets my juices flowing. Hard and long – a night finishing the mag can be testing, but so long as I can lay my hands on plenty of cock, I know I’ll get the sticky bits licked before the press deadline. MP

Cheese Quake

Dirt Quake, Dirt Quake II, Dirt Quake USA, Dirt Quake III and next up Cheese Quake. Oregon is a progressive state but this new 'Blizzard Treat' is verging on avant-garde. On our drive up to Portland from LA, we pulled off Interstate Highway 5 into Cottage Grove, and were promptly given the bird by a local pick-up driver for no apparent reason (the rest of the population was very, very friendly) so cautiously overtook him. Then came across the local Dairy Queen and were given a second salute, as we pulled in. We re-energised on synthetic 'creamy vanilla soft serve' (they are evidently not legally allowed to even call it ice cream). BP

Food Fantasy by See See Motorcycles

This is the new high-concept riding film from our good friends at See See in Portland. Thor, who visited England for Dirt Quake II in the summer, said it was directly inspired by the Sideburn Pie. G

Mud Crab, Sheffield

We're pleased to announce The Mud Crab Diner, Sheffield now stocks Sideburn.
We haven't visited yet, but it's on our To Do list, and so is wolfing down their '6 napkin burger' (pictured).
They also commissioned Maxwell P from Corpses of Hell to design them a T-shirt. They have all the bases covered.

If your shop, workshop, cafe or coffee joint wants to stock Sideburn, please get in touch. G

One of our Italian dealers, Kustom Garage, have commissioned a bunch of gourmet chocolate wrapped up in kustom style boxes. We had some at Verona and it's tasty. G

'With 8 Different tastes, you will know the typical Sicilian delice, the coffee, the Bronte pistachio, the vanilla, the cinnamon, the citrus and the red hot pepper, all these ingredients are selected and artisanally worked in order to give you the best product ever.'

Cow Foot Racing

Not really. Ridley Street Market in Dalston, east London, is set in a cultural, ecconomic, social and graphic time warp. Jews, Asians, Greeks, Turks, West Indians and shaven headed east end barrow boys muscle in together. Hackney council are threatening to chuck some money at it to sanitize it, which would be a shame (if that's not too patronizing a reaction?).
If they did have their own racing team this is what their number boards would look like. BP

Bacon and egg loaf

Anyone who loves that trad biker fare of the bacon sarnie (or variations thereof, right up to the all day breakfast bap) would love this. It's a typically Neapolitan thing called casatiello, but my resourceful wife knows a place to get it here in Rome. It's a slightly sweet bread with egg, salami and ham mixed into the dough before baking. It's only done at Easter, hence the crazy egg on the top. This was the smallest they had - they can go to mental five and six eggers. We had it for Good Friday breakfast and it was a near-religious experience. MP
