This came in from Karl in Austria, reacting to a post from last week.
The video from 1953 in Tyrol is great.
I am from Upper-Austria.
Skijöring has been very popular all around our area till the beginning of the 1970s.
Safety was not that much in the forefront. It was more or less all about speed and giving gas.
More and more laws and terms by the government, uncomprehending neighbours and also a lack of snow made it pretty difficult and expelled the Skijöring freaks.
That's a really big pity.
I have sent pictures of Skijöring in my area.
Greetings from Vocklabruck.
Karl

Sub Cool
Tidying up the hoarders mountain of my desk, unearthed this dusty snap (from a pre-digital age so I think it's from ±1999). Ater Matchless 500 racing at Assen, Holland. Love it. Not that I know anything about it. Who dares to paint their bike BROWN?! (Maybe the owner had a matching Austin Allegro). Lester mags? Ridden by (amongst others) Dave Croxford and... Peter Williams - here at Brands Hatch in 1970.Also related to this JPN lovely?
When I eventually get my Guzzi back on the road, I'd love a raw white gelcoat full fairing like this. BP

Look, Signal, Manoeuvre
I can't believe I've not seen this before. It's one of those hugely patronising public information films and probably had the opposite effect of the one intended by its makers in 1965. Come on, we'd be the one on the Triumph Tiger Cub hammering round the woods, surely? A great bit of social history - the newsagent's is straight from my youth. Click full screen and select a higher definition - the quality is pretty good. Anybody else spot goody-goody Tom's blunder at about 5m 30s? MP
