Ollie Brindley - Hero

No apologies for harping on about the Superprestigio for the last few days. It was an amazing race.

Apparently, it's on BT Sport from 6-8am tomorrow.

In this photo of the grand finale, the Superfinal you will see:

#4 Thomas Chareyre (multiple World Supermoto champ, I said he was a dark horse) going down having been nudged from behind going into turn 1 on lap 1.

Ollie Brindley!

Little Ollie Brindley! The DTRA's Ollie Brindley. Ollie Brindley that smashed his shoulder to pieces (ask to see the scar) just four weeks ago while racing to qualify for this meeting. Ollie Brindley who turned 16 just one week ago.

Ollie came in sixth, ahead of Smith. Kenny Noyes was an amazing third.

2014 International Dirt Track Festival

Following the success of last year's Noyes Camp International Dirt Track Festival at the Motorland track in Aragon, Northern Spain, there is another, this October.

There are a number of different options an packages for schools, schools and racing or just racing.
They cover Rookies and experienced riders. There are school bikes or you can take your own.
Prices range from €220 to €550

Champions Flat Track School x Noyes Camp, Spain

Champions Training School & Noyes Camp Team Up For 3 Days of Rear Wheel Steering Action at Motorland Park, Aragon, Spain. 
7-9 MARCH, 2014 

Flat track is recognised by many up and coming MotoGP stars and World Champions as a valuable part of their training schedule and now we would like to offer you the chance to experience the skills of controlling a bike whilst using your riding position and throttle control, sliding on the fantastic dirt and tarmac tracks on offer at Motorland . 

Day 1 - Oval Flat track training, Short track and ¼ mile track. 
Day 2 - TT Flat track training (left, right handers and jumps) on two dirt only tracks. 
Day 3 - Supermoto training on tarmac and dirt, with three tracks to choose from. 

Training will be included all three days, with instruction from Kenny (#9 pictured battling Marquez above) and Pete.
The cost for three days training is £275 (with your own bike). 
Bike Hire KLX 140s is £60 half a day, £90 full day and £200 for 3 full days.

If you follow the blog you'll have seen a few posts about Kenny Noyes. He's a former Moto2 rider and US national dirt track champ. He kicked ass at the recent Superprestigio. He's a top fella and pictured above, testing Guy's Co-Built in Spain.

The DTRA is excited to announce a Pre-Season Training day with Kenny Noyes. The day is aimed at seasoned racers and beginners alike who wish to practise their skills on their own bike. 

Entries to training day are restricted to 20 riders only so each individual gets plenty of track time and advice. 
Venue: Rye House Speedway 
Date: 13 April 2014

8.30 onwards - Arrival and unload 
9.00am - Sign on and introduction 
10.00am - 3.00pm Track time inc: Free ride and warm up sessions 
 Basic Principles 
 Cornering Drills 
 Bike Setup Clinic 
 Filmed Laps (for feedback purposes) 
 Free ride track time 
 3.00pm onwards- Drinks in the Pub and feedback from the day.

More from the Superprestigio - this time Kenny Noyes' (the man behind the recent 2013 Dirt Track Festival in Spain) helmet cam.
Kenny rode like a demon - win it or bin it. Crashed out in two, won two, was on the podium in both the Superprestigio and the Grand Final.
If you're thinking of starting to race dirt track, don't think that's it's always like this, but this really makes me look forward to the next season (even though I'm not in the same league as these guys, the first corner feeling is the same).

Super Wheels in the Flesh

Gary already posted the blurb on Jan-Willem's Super Wheels.
I've seen them up close at Noyes Camp in Spain. Unlike me, J-W does not hand-file bits of scrap iron in his garden shed. J-W's world is inhabited by robots wielding surgical instruments. J-W utilizes only refined high-tech alloys. These new wheels are as state-of-the-art as can be. The prototypes fitted here to Tom's awesome J&M framed Sportser were machined from spun blanks, but the production versions would look identical but be forged.

Inspired by the beloved BMX Skyway mags of our youth, I'd like to see them in garish colours too. Rad. BP

Miguel Jamon

AKA Dimitri Coste is a mad mo fo. He missed two flights on the way to Spain. When he turned up in his Lee denim jacket and white Wrangler Rodeo jeans, Kenny Noyes said "where's your riding gear?" - "this is it!" Dimitri responded. 10 minutes after getting on to the track (a day and a half late) he was crashing prostrate into me. Dimitri is a flyer. Dimitri doesn't stop - except to grab a bite to eat (here in Barcelona airport on the way home) - or to pick up trophies. BP

I'm ashamed to say (apart from Dirt Quake II) participating in the 2013 DTRA racing season completely passed me by for various reasons. So to be on this here Spanish hillside this time last week at 8:30 in the morning screwing the tits off a 140cc Kawasaki rental made up for it.
There was no jump on the 'Track 'n' Trail' course, but it was a lot of fun - especially trying to get the hang of the right-handers. Alan Birtwistle - making the dust cloud here, evidently had no problem (even when he had been propping up the local bar in Alcañiz until 7 in the morning).

All I've been hearing is good vibes back from the Kenny Noyes/ DTRA Flat Track Festival out in Spain. Sideburn's BP (above) went out for the four-day festival, but I was working in India so I couldn't make it.

Hi Ben and Gary, 

...for some reason I am unable to ade this comment to your blog but I have to let you know: Right now my friend Robert and me are flying back home from the Festival. Being absolute beginners in "dirt affairs" we not only survived but walked away with a trophy. 

We are still so excited and fullfilled with hormones of happiness! I guess we won't be able to sleep. We earned and learned far more than we had hoped or expected. 

Thanks to all the wonderful people and participants for all the valuable tips, fun and entertainment. Special Thanks to Jan-Willem Janssen for letting me try his beautiful Rotax framer. 

If there will be a 2nd Festival in 2014 we will sign in immediately. 
Hope to meet again soon, maybe in one of "Boastie's" spring camp...
