Maxwell Paternoster: A self-portrait

Kind of.
Maxwell has produced a load of artwork for Sideburn over the years - hand-drawn titles, stickers, T-shirts... And his latest work includes an incredible gilded Shoei helmet. Check him on his @datanoster instagram feed or Maxwell Paternoster tumblr.

His beloved BSA, Lazer Death, featured in Sideburn 9, photographed for us by Sam Christmas.

That issue is available individually or as a four Sideburn back issue bundle for £10 (plus post). 400 pages for £10! G

DGR 2014

The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride has exploded. Well, not literally, but there are clearly a load of folk doing it this year. And it all happens this Sunday.

This weekend, there are 255 charity rides (raising money for prostate cancer research) in 57 countries. And Triumph are corporate sponsors of the whole thing.

Baybutt of the Corpses From Hell reminded us he's organised one in Sheffield (UK). You can sponsor him here.

Underdog Show, London

This from Drew at The Black Skulls...

We are involved in a small event down at the Underdog Gallery next weekend and was wondering if you could do us a big favour and stick the flyer up on your social media? It's basically gonna be an art show with live bands, DJ sets and we are putting a mini bike show on of around 10 bikes plus a pop up shop.

Live For Myself, Answer To Nobody

Incoming from top photographer Sam Christmas (who shot SB15's Cover 2)

It should be a good night with loads of unseen McQueen Barry Feinstein prints, other photography by Bill Ray, Von Dutch, Joe McGorty and myself, art by Death Spray and Corpses from Hell as well as a few rare motorcycles and cars. And a free bar. Its in the (fully enclosed) top floor of the NCP on Brewer street, Soho and if you rock up on a McQueen era(ish) bike, you can park in the actual exhibition space... and leave it there til the next day too if you want to drink. For those that are interested but can't make the opening, the show will be running for a few weeks.

Wingboot, Buzz or Howl

New products in the Sideburn webshop.
First is a gorgeous new rub-on sticker- the Wingboot. Each letter is individually cut out, like our logo/subs stickers. £3.50 plus post.
Black, white or red.
250mm (10in) long. BIG!
Perfect for vehicles, helmets, toolboxes...
We bought a few of these Buzz or Howl 7in singles to sell on because...
A) Our entertainments officer David 'Skooter Farm' Arnold plays bass in this 3-piece.
B) One of our favourite artists, Maxwell Paternoster (Prez of the Corpses From Hell) drew the artwork.

We have a handful of these at £5 plus post.
The style is a lot like Freak Scene-era Dinosaur Jr and Mega City Four, late-80s indie punk. Anyway, there were 500 made and the record company has sold out of them already.
Vinyl fans should also check out the one of only release on Sideburn Records, by The Stags. G

Don't forget this Thursday's Sideburn and Corpses From Hell party up in Sheffield.

We're leaving the Mud Crab cafe for the ride-out at 3.30 sharp.
It's only a short ride, but the CFH promise a surprise or two on the route through the Peak District (see a photo from the recce, above). It's all on tarmac, unless you don't want it to be. Then it's back to the Mud Crab for an evening of music, speed-eating and (hopefully) magazine buying.

If you can't make it for the ride, the rest of the shenanigans run from 7.30 to 11.30.

A Zombie By A Corpse

A detail of our latest T-shirt showing an undead Captain Hilts drawn by Maxwell Paternoster of the Corpse From Hell. It's printed, in England, on a soft white ringspun Gildan.

He smells of rotting flesh and is an ungodly shade of beige; he's hungry for the blood of nazis and is aiming the front wheel of his steed at the Swiss border. That's Maxwell's normal Friday afternoon, anyway. No idea what the Zombie Hilts is planning.

Order yours at the Sideburn webshop. G

Zombie McQ by MP (CFH) for SB

Summer's here! Really. Time to get a new Sideburn shirt, surely. This one was both illustrated and modelled by Maxwell Paternoster, the prez of the Corpses From Hell Motorcycle Gang.

There are a lot of companies after your T-shirt pounds/ euro/ dollars/ dirhams, BUT we're pretty sure this is the only T-shirt in the world to depict a Zombie Steve McQueen with a dead and decapitated Nazi stormtrooper strapped to his petrol tank. It's a no-brainer.

It's printed in England on a lovely soft, Gildan ringspun shirt. Get yours for just £15 plus post. At the Sideburn webshop. G

PS If summer isn't where you're at, we have wooly hats too.

Sideburn 14 Launch Party

It's been a hectic summer. Dirt Quake, Wheels and Waves, Cafe Racer Festival, Isle of Man, racing, bike-building and working on issue 14 of the magazine. Something had to give, so we considered ditching the idea of a launch party, then Corpses From Hell came to the rescue. They're organising what might be the most memorable ever! If you doubt it, check the CFH x Ruby video below. Are you on the right wavelength?

Where: SHEFFIELD
When: Thursday 8 August
What: Ride out from 2.30 the afternoon, up into the Peak District for some surprises. Then back to the Mud Crab Diner to check out Sam Christmas's famous Natural Habitats photo exhibition (first time out of London); The Garage Artists reel of groovy motorcycle short films, speed-eating contest, music, Sideburn merch stall, free Sideburn x Corpses from Hell stickers...

Prizes for furthest travelled (by bike), best bike, best jacket (all decided by CFH)

PS Sideburn #14 is looking grrrrrreat.
