These new old stock magazines are limited to one issue per person.

Go to sideburn.bigcartel.com then click MAGAZINES in the products section.

Sideburn 18 Unearthed

UPDATE: They've all sold. We'll announce more issues on the blog if they ever turn up.
This issue sold out remarkably quickly (something to do with Guy Martin shot by Sam Christmas being on the cover?).
I've just found two in the bottom of a box of something else.
They might be very, very slightly warehouse worn, but I can't spot anything wrong with them.

Go to sideburn.bigcartel.com to order if you want one. £5 plus post. G

Sideburn 18: Last one?

UPDATE: SOLD
It looks like we might have the last Sideburn 18 on the shelf.
The cover features Guy Martin at Pikes Peak by Sam Christmas.
There is a slim chance we'll find a handful more in our cavernous warehouse, when we have a tidy up, but it's not guaranteed, so to avoid disappointment, order this one now from sideburn.bigcartel.com. G

When You Dead You Dead

So says Waldemars Kidals. That saying (and Sideburn 18) inspired Rufus Day to make this funny, little animation. Thanks Rufus! Owners of Sideburn 18 will know the significance of the saying.

Rufus says…

Works been a bit slow recently and Ive been enjoying my Sideburn no.18 so much I decided to make a little video- hope you like it.

I'm an Illustrator but I make some short videos too- here is my blog and vimeo page.

I've spent the last few years tinkering with a Puch moped but I thought I'd show you my latest project - a rusty Citroen Acadiane van (just enough space for a chicken chaser in the back).

Skip Aksland Screenprint

Following on from Mert Lawwill and Jim Rice in the series of hand-pulled, very limited edition, super quality screen prints is Skip Aklsand. All three have been drawn by Ryan Quickfall.

A young sensation in the late-70s, a protege of Kenny Roberts, Skip's career burnt short and bright.
We interviewed him for Sideburn 18 and also ran pages of his personal scrapbook of fantastically evocative photos.

Sideburn 18 and the Aksland screen print are both in the Sideburn shop now.

The Original: Brat Style

People have become very confused. Some try to tell us 'Our show includes Brat Style bikes.' Others claim 'We make Brat Style bikes.' They don't. Only one company makes Brat Style bikes: Brat Style of Japan. The rest, those influenced and riding on the coat tails, make Brat Style-style bikes.

For Sideburn 18 (out now!) Japanese journalist, photographer, clothing designer and rocker, Hiro Maeda visited Brat Style's three-storey Tokyo HQ for Sideburn. He interviewed the top man, Mr. Go Takamine, and got the lowdown on the history of the company; why Go has moved to the USA; what the followers will be riding in four years time (basically what Go is building right now). And there isn't a panini seat in sight.

On another note - Ben pointed out there is a website in Italy called Brat Style and they've trademarked the name. Trademarking the name of a true trailblazer and a gent - how low can you go? GI

Sideburn 18 for Pre-Order; New Wing Boot T-shirts: Snapbacks

Yes, Sideburn 18 is now available for pre-order.
Took a bit longer than we expected due to running two Dirt Quakes this year (Dirt Quake USA is featured in this issue).
Same great quality, same great price.

That is Guy Martin at Pikes Peak shot by Sam Christmas on the cover.

Now is a good time to re-subscribe or check your sub status too. Email us at dirt @ sideburnmagazine.com

£15 plus post
We have Wing Boot rub-on stickers too.
We have these embroidered snapback caps too. Also £15 plus post.

Thanks for supporting this independent. G

Warwick Johnson Cadwell

We have commissioned renowned cartoon artist Warwick Johnson Cadwell to produce an illustration for the next Sideburn.
Above is his (unrelated) drawing of Joan Jett as Boba Fett.
WJC worked with Tank Girl's writer, Alan Martin, replacing original artist Jamie Hewlett (a tough gig), to produce new a new Tank Girl book (Solid State Tank Girl) and, most recently, Young Tank Girl.

The Joan Jett reference gives us a chance to post some footage of The Runaways. Anyone complaining?

Oh, and Sideburn 18 will be out in mid-September. We're just putting some finishing touches to it. G
