Calling all London racers, riders, rockers, rollergirls, mods, street trackers, gawkers and lollygaggers. Sideburn are officially launching Sideburn 6 at Lewis Leathers, W1 next Wednesday, August 25, from 6-9. Magazines will be £5, but the the Vedett beer is free till you polish it all off, then there's a good pub around the corner.

Buenos Aires bobjob

About this time last year we posted a photo of German Karp's project, mainly because he was in Buenos Aires and we were excited that someone so far afield had found our blog. Now he's finished. I'm posting it because Buenos Aires is the best city I've ever visited. And that Quilmes beer truck in the background reminds me of going to see River Plate play Quilmes (a football team named after a beer named after a native tribe) with Dan Walsh. It was when I went to BA for a feature and Dan was rattling round there having ridden down from Canada. Anyway, German says...

London fixie meet-up

If I ever have to be in London early for work I try to stop at my mate Andy's the night before. This time we heard about some fixie cycle film preview thing and thought it might be worth checking out. Fixie bicycles really split opinion. Some people seem to take a dislike to the whole scene, but it's just a scene, people wanting to hang out, some are a bit too cool for school, but so what?
A few phone calls and Ben rode two hours from his temporary home in Suffolk (after literally popping out for a pint of milk). Jake rode over on his BMW. Fordy called Grant, and Mr Death Spray Custom said he'd come too. In the end we bought some cans and stood outside, not even bothering to watch the film. We stayed long enough to watch the impromptu stunt show (which was pretty crappy until someone crashed into a table of chardonay sippers outside the snooty Italian restaurant).





Mr DSC explained the ins and outs of fixies to us while people slobbered over the former track bike he'd ridden 12 miles to meet us.

This fella was the Sideburn style icon. He had 12-speeds and a chinstrap beard.

Then we went for the worst curry Brick Lane had to offer. I'd drunk enough by then that I didn't even notice.

San Jose tracker night

Enthusiast Lorin Guy got a bunch of former and current racers and tuners and flat track fans together last week in San Jose CA for "Tracker Night". Good food and adult beverages were served. Joe Leonard was there, and Ray Abrams brought out the
infamous Kenny Roberts TZ750 mile racer machine and started it up for the crowds enjoyment, it was ear-splitting loud. Lots of other beautiful race machines and street trackers were displayed in the show also. I wore my new SIDEBURN shirt proudly, and took some snapshots of the fun.
