Raulowsky + Herge x El Solitario

Last week's post on the Tintin magazine (that contained no Tintin) reminded me of this fantastic homage to the Belgian boy detective that Spanish artist, Raulowsky created for El Solitario last year.

The first time I saw it I kicked myself for not thinking of it. I'm a big fan of Herge's books and this is a clever take on The Black Island cover. Raulowsky includes Biarritz' lighthouse, David El Solitario in his trademark hat on his Panhead, Valeria with Gonzo BMW and their sidekick, ET. Not sure who is on the front of the raft.
Spanish artist Raulowsky and his work features on this short video, and you get a couple of glimpses of the great Into The Wild design he created for Sideburn back in 2012. G

Tintin Journal (Tintin not included)

Dug this out when going through a load of stuff recently. It was sent to me more than ten years ago by an old mate who lives in France, who'd spotted it on a market stall (he has a keen eye for sweating boy scouts grappling with unruly thumpers). Strangely enough, there's no Tintin strip in the mag, from July 1964. I think it ran for years, having spotted this site. Lovely artwork by Mittéï. MP
