New Stuff in the Shop

The Sideburn shop is mainly full of stuff we've produced, but we also stock items made by people we really like. Here are two examples.

We have a new print by Ryan Quickfall. He designed it, screen-printed it himself and then signed and numbered it. It is beautiful quality and we don't have many. The Demon Flat Track print is £30 plus post.

We also have a long-awaited re-stock of the Maxwell Paternoster sketch book, that is published in Spain. It's great, but I have to hide mine so my daughter doesn't colour it in... £20 plus post. We have even fewer of these...

The official launch of Sideburn 24, and the launch of the DTRA 2016 season, will be held at the Bike Shed Motorcycle Club in London, on Saturday 9 April. It's the day before the first race meeting of the Dirt Track Riders Association season at Rye House, Hertfordshire (just outside the M25). It's free to spectate, there's going to be a massive race entry, so make a weekend of it.

Maxwell Paternoster: A self-portrait

Kind of.
Maxwell has produced a load of artwork for Sideburn over the years - hand-drawn titles, stickers, T-shirts... And his latest work includes an incredible gilded Shoei helmet. Check him on his @datanoster instagram feed or Maxwell Paternoster tumblr.

 His beloved BSA, Lazer Death, featured in Sideburn 9, photographed for us by Sam Christmas.

Dirt Quake III by Mr Porky

Check out this 18-minute long, documentary-style film about this summer's Dirt Quake III made for one of the event's sponsors, Mr Porky pork scratchings!

All I Want For Christmas is my Two Front Teeth

The Sideburn webshop is out of teeth at the moment, our usual supplier is at a loss too. But we do have these kids T-shirts designed by Maxwell Paternoster available in blue and red. Because of two Dirt Quakes in two months (in two continents) and going from three to four issues per year, the bigger features I used to put on the blog have taken a back seat, but the blog is still updated at least every day (4600 posts and counting).

I've been meaning to post this since the middle of April! But you all get enough instant gratification nowadays, so it hardly matters.
Anyway, I had to visit London for day job stuff and took the opportunity to visit some of Sideburn's supporters.

Bolt London

First up is Bolt London. Based under a railway arch in the London Fields (out East) and the idea of Andrew Almond, Bolt sells Biltwell lids,  Eat Dust, La Rocka, Black Skulls, The Real Intellectuals, their own Bolt T-shirts, old leather jackets, artwork, books and 'accessories'.

 Kingdom of Kicks

Next it was the short ride to Hackney Wick to visit Kingdom of Kicks. The bossman, James was away, but Rory was in working and let me snoop about. The space is one-third retail, two-thirds workshop.
They flog Blitz x Edwin; Eat Dust; Black Skulls; Chester Belter; Kingdom of Kicks, some Laborataire Bon Zorro... They build bikes too.
Check opening times before visiting, the mainly have weekend openings...

Lurking at K/K was the mighty Maxwell Paternoster and his CR250.

Muff Customs

Just around the corner, two minutes walk from K/K, is Muff Customs. A cafe, with bike workshop. A nice place to hang-out just over the canal from the Olympic stadium.
They sell food, great coffee, local beer; hold events; stock Sideburn and a range of Deus Ex Machina clothes...

Me on my faithful old Speed Triple (still on its Dirt Quake II Conti TKC80s. They're taking some wearing out). Just realised I'm flying the (black) flag for some of our advertisers - Edwin trousers, Icon 1000 Beltway jacket, Kriega R35 rucksack. G

Ivan the Terrible by Mule Motorcycles

From Mule Motorcycles...

'Ivan the Terrible' started life as a Bonneville America 270 degree crank motor, Mule frame, R-6 Yamaha USD forks, and lots of Titanium, aluminum tank and widened Champion seat. Mucho mods to the motor push power to 96 at the wheel. Beringer controls and a ceramic-coated exhaust give the low level bling-age. The silver Porsche paint and a red leather seat cover keep the bike within the James Dean Porsche Spyder theme. Note the Mobilgas Pegasus now sporting Mule ears. 

'The bike took first place in the Customs class at the Quail gathering and on the way home we stopped to a shot with a 20' James Dean sign about 2 miles from the crash site that took his life decades ago.'

We like that Mule didn't bother changing his usual T-shirt and shorts outfit just because Quail demands it.
