What?! A special 16-page Sideburn section in Dice magazine, issue 44 on sale very soon? I can barely believe it. We've never been shy about saying what an inspiration Dice was/is. And Ben contributed to the very early issues of Dice too (under the name of both Part B and Hunter).
To be asked to supply a special section to this special magazine that has a special place in our hearts was, y'know, special. Thanks Matt and Dean.
Buy your copy from Dice magazine shop or your favourite clued-up retailer.

Dirt Quake Prizes
Everyone was a winner. If you looked the quagmire in the eye and said "Hell Yeah Bring It On" got on your bike and wobbled round - or fishtailed like horny salmon headed up (a muddy) stream, you're a winner. We did also give Co-Built-made Sideburn trophies and a special DQ Davida helmet to:
Milo for cleaning up in the Chopper Class on his hand-shift 45
(bike photo CFH)
Guy in Inappropriate Road Bike Class for rodeoing his rubber cow BMW to victory
(bike photo Capt Simon)
Roberto Ungaro who came over especially from Italy and styled it on the Spillo in Street Tracker Class - I can imagine some people having first seen this bike in Riders Magazine, thinking what a ludicrous and poncy vehicle - this thing bloody shifts and would stab you in the belly for even thinking of looking at its girlfriend.
(bike photo Capt Simon)
Then, also in the Inappropriate Road Bike Class, Amanda, a worthy Davida spot prize just for having a go on her Virago.

Death Spray Nascar
Mr Death Spray Custom couldn't make it to Dirt Quake because he was in Charlotte, North Carolina watching Nelson Piquet Jr race a NASCAR truck he'd designed the livery of.
Our Project FT - that DSC sprayed - was raced at Coventry by Carl, though.

Steaming Hot Pie
Just like there are a generation of men for whom all stuntmen should wear a cape and white flared leathers and every GP champion should have a Benson and Hedges on the slowdown lap, there are now a few kids growing up in England who will think a motorcycle race is not complete without a (not up to) pace car shaped like a pie, blowing steam and playing out of tune airhorns.
And I think I agree with them. G

Dirt Quake Inspired Art 1
I bumped into Martin Squires at a crappy classic bike event in January and gave him a copy of Sideburn. He kept in touch and came along to Dirt Quake. These are his digitally painted sketches (he sketches, with pen and pad, on the day, then scans and paints them on the computer). Lovely, eh?
Check out more of his stuff at Martin Squires Automotive Illustration. G

You couldn't make it up
The Dirt Quake pace pie driven by Spencer of The Stags. Sideburn's Ben Poncho and Rob Oily Rags.
The Sideburn Stig, on our Project Royal Enfield cover bike, chases Carl CFM on our Project FT cover bike. Ride them, don't hide them. Peter Jordan is on the Triumph.
Some shots nicked from Flat Tel's flickr. There are 298 over there. Thanks Tel. G
