Spirit of The Seventies W800

Our mates at Spirit of the Seventies have been building some cool projects in the last 12 months, including the Bonneville below. They have been noticed by Kawasaki UK - who've given them a brand new W800 to do a number on.
Now Kawasaki and Spirit are asking for the public (us lot) to vote on the paintjob from the choices above. Go to Kawasaki's facebook to get involved.

We've picked up some new books and bookazines to sell in the Sideburn webshop.
Cast Iron is a bookazine - it's too big and heavy to be called a magazine, but has adverts and a soft-cover, so it's not truly a book. Whatever, it's a slice of French made goodness with every story printed in French and English. It covers all the kustom kulture bases with features on car, bikes, photography, burlesque, music, art...

We've also stocked up on all our hardback art/graphics books, and added the brand new Surf Graphics to the list.

Wheels and Waves, Biarritz, pt. 0

(rewinding a bit). Calculating you've got an 888 mile / 14 hour 49 minute road trip ahead of you just for a weekend jolly, and then the same back again Sunday, half-cut, demands some psyching up. But Gary's T5 VW is magic. It flies. Our offices are 179 miles apart so it's good to talk face to face for a change.
1st stop chez Death Spray. Then catching the tail of exotica on the way to Le Mans for the 24hrs. The Lola we met on the Chunnel was actually going to Spa for a free reign. It's always magic when the satnav shows a big chunk of beckoning blue ocean. Our coach-house B&B was just a drunken stone's throw from the chateau which was handy too. Time and miles compressed.VW Luxury doesn't extend to electric windows or a CD player, so I dug out some old C90 cassettes and revisited some yesteryear favourites Señor Coconut and the Kraftwerk covers of Y Su Conjunto – El Baile Alemán. It was destined to be a great weekend. BP

Cactus Flat Track

Good news from Mike in Texas

 Just wanted to let you know SB No. 1 now completes my collection; I was fortunate to win a copy of your inaugural issue from the gentleman who was selling another one on eBay (which you recently announced in the blog). I thought you might want to see its new home. 


Also, Saturday was a great day for flat trackers here in the States, too; witness the shots made by yours truly at Cactus Speedway, a family-owned 1/5-mile red clay oval in East Texas. The races were sanctioned by the Vintage Dirt Track Racing Association, a Texas-based organization that holds such events across the Lone Star State as well as Colorado and Oklahoma. Practice started around 6 p.m. and the final main ended just before midnight. Good stuff! Mike

4 days of Instrumental Surf Sound with great bands from all over the world...expo area.food drinks.free admission! 
Messer Chups from Russia is one of the band.and also one of my favourite

Every 5 minutes keys to bikes would be tossed in the air for someone else to take a spin around the grounds. Not too sure the regulars of Chateau Brindos were too happy with the noise. Or by the sight of Gary, mine and Kristina's pants in the swimming pool when it got toasty later on. BP

Wheels and Waves, Biarritz, pt. 2

So, we didn't know what to expect from Wheels and Waves in Biarritz. There are a lot of shows to go to in Europe and we can't do all of them, but lots of good people had said they were going to this, so we joined them. It was amazing. 

Thursday night was a party in a Biarritz Beach House, Friday was the art and bike show, Saturday was ride out and gig/meal and some surfing (not that we partook), Sunday was beach race and recovery. 

Unfortunately, we didn't know about the beach race, so we had to hightail it back to England for other commitments. Still we had a blast. 

I loved hanging out with Dice Matt, Lenny Bubble Visor and Laurent Bagnard, among many others, on Friday. They even had a great DJ and I got to play a few records with Matt. Here are my Saturday snaps. G

Jonathan from Death Traps MC had shipped his Shovelhead from California and was touring around Europe. He could ride this hand-shift hog like he was ringing a bell.

This chap, sorry forgot your name, came from Belgium with his other-half and new baby, his honda on the back of the car. He proved if you want to do something, you can do it.

Roses and rods. The location of Friday's art, car and bike show and auction was a Chateau/hotel/pornstar palace. Nice place to hang out from 9am till 11pm. We took a dip in the pool to the disgust of the paying hotel guests, and drank gin we'd bought at the Channel Tunnel.

 Sonic Seb. Great to see him again.
