Rudge Whitworth

1935, I think. Lovely. Nice old fella owned too.

Peterborough GI

I was flying (for some heats) this weekend. I always do alright at Peterborough, but racing two classes means I'm shagged by the semis and finals and end up disappointed.
But I do manage to get loads of laps in.
The fella behind me in this shot, on the two-stroke, tried to put it up the inside of me in this heat and wore the leather off the back of my left calf with his front tyre. Rubbing's racing.

Boastie rules

Peter Boast (54) is the ACU Short Track and Thunderbike 2008 champion. That is some going.
It was a two-day championship at Peterborough.
Other notables are friends of Sideburn and Skooter Farm's Captain Highside (76) coming 2nd in Thunderbike on his homebuilt special, and Ben 'Killer' Miller coming fourth in the Short Track. Where the hell did that result come from?
Great weekend had by everyone except Big Kev and our mate Colin who both went home in ambulances.

Loads more form Peterborough during the week.

Italian XR1200

From www.hellforleathermagazine.com

"Harley-Davidson Italy is considering a one-make race series for the XR1200, commissioning this one-off special for the purposes of track testing and to evaluate interest in the series. We don’t know about the Italians, but we’re interested.
This Harley-Davidson XR1200 is fitted with a tasty retro-inspired front numberplate, twin Öhlins shocks, a Termignoni shotgun exhaust specifically designed for the bike, wavy brakes, uprated forks, a flat-track-style single-seat, and sporty Dunlops. We can’t imagine writing that last sentence about any other Harley, and that’s the point. Why, oh why can’t we buy a Harley that handles here in the good ol’ USA? If that isn’t anti-American, we don’t know what is."

Back on topic. Thanks for your patience.

Or Glory

The off-topic Yann DeBelle de Montby post seemed to go down well, so here's another cufflink related piece. These are my all-time favourites. The skull insignia is from the Queen's Royal Lancers. The QRL, I think I'm right in saying, used to be the Light Brigade, from the Charge of the Light Brigade.
Screw your nazi insignia when the Queen's own force has skull and crossbone badges.

Ventura Outlaws

Go. Take shots for us. The last one sounded good. And Gene Romero is a lovely man.
We hope Dan Mahony is getting a few bucks for the uses of his photo, because he's pretty broke and not in very good health. If you want to use his shots and would like to get in touch we can help.Dan is very reasonable.

It's a racing kind of weekend

Been bouncing a few emails to and fro with Donzilla of fantastic T-shirt company Metro Racing. He said

"It's a racing kind of day tomorrow. I'm racing my world famous Bultaco wkr powered Astro. World famous because of the legs that have been thrown over it. Gary Nixon, Dave Aldana, Georgie Price, Rusty Rodgers, and Jay Springsteen! Best of luck," Don

Do we have to tell anyone this is Springer on board?
Good luck Don, tell us how you did.
