Champion: Aidan Collins

Old news, but good news, Aidan Collins secured his back-to-back UK short track championships at the recent Rye House round. He won the final on the night ensuring there was no doubt.
Just like the UK's Thunderbike champion, Anthony Brown, Ade Collins is a nice guy who helps out, gives advice to anyone who asks (including me), never gets wound up and comes to the races with his family, including his dad - former speedway star, Les (who is still a mean racer).
Congrats Ade. G
Ade led from the start to finish, but young racers (fresh back from their US trip) Ben Baker (7), Tom Woolley (93) and Tim Neeves (14) will make it hard for him to win a third title.Tom was second on the night, Suzuki's Tim Neeves a fantastic third. He should still be in the juniors, but arranged special permission from the ACU to race in the top class this season. His twin brother Tom won the Juniors, he'll be in the top class next year. They're both brilliant.

There's a UK short track club race (more classes including novice nutcases) next Sunday at Scunthorpe. Free entry for spectators.

I went looking for photos of Ade's dad and found these beauties. Below, Les with the Leicester team of the early 1980s, left kneeling. Photo: Defunct Speedway
Les has built a Honda Dominator-based Thunderbike to compete in UK club races. He's great to race and watch.
