Original Racing Situation, Treviso

We wrote about the Italian's new take on dirt fun, the ORS - Original Racing Situation in Sideburn 7. It's dirt track bikes plus drift cars, plus a full Italian dirt track race and music and stuff. It's going to be fun. Here's what Paolo from Zaeta has to say about it...

UPDATE: I forgot to say it's May 7/8

"We will combine rock dj set with drifting exhibition with cars (Graziano Rossi and probably Loris Reggiani, ex 250 champion among others), an official Italian short track championship race and motocross freestyle exhibition by the Daboots (the best team in Italy). During the event Freddie Spencer, Graziano, Marco Belli and possibly others will ride some short track bikes for exhibition.
2 days of rock and dirt , just for Love...
Thanks as always. Paolo."

Freddie Spencer is racing. He's wearing this special Arai and it's going on eBay. I bet my mate John would like it.

Sideburn 2 Found

When Ben moved back to England from France he boxed up a load of stuff. If you've ever moved you know how long it takes to open some boxes. Last week he sliced a box open to find 25 Sideburn 2 inside. This issue has been sold out for a year. Get it at the Sideburn Webshop. And hey, treat yourself, buy a load more stuff while you're there. Everything else will run out sooner or later too.
If you get there and it says SOLD OUT. Then you're too late. Sorry. G

Aldana Night: Two weeks to go

We've just had an email from David saying he's bringing a bunch of stuff over to auction off. There's going to be some great stuff, and, if the Chris Carr night is anything to go by, there's going to be stuff for every budget.

Friday May 6, Race night

This is what he said: "I'm bringing bsa team photos, Trans atlantic 1970's 80's jackets, bmw battle of legends shirt, old style aldana tees
tri -bsa national winners posters, pilot leathers tees and stickers, racing leather suit and helmets, kaw team shirt with eddie lawson, factory team honda jacket, Trans atlantic team photos..."

Oh Canaduh!

There's a new Motorcycho out and it's the most interactive magazine on the market.
There are features on budget rock and surf bands (like the Man Wolves and the James T Kirks), road trips, bosozoku, budget flat track... The interactive element comes from a sheet of lick 'n' stick photos to attach to pages to finish the features yourself. I love it. Get Motorcycho! $10 inc patch.
Norm, who makes Motorcycho, is also in the band The Vicious Cycles MC. They have a new CD out. Buy it here. I wish the VCMC where my local band.
If that weren't enough Norm is also Sideburn's ambassador to Canaduh! Norm, we love you. G

Newcomers

A mouthwatering taste of the UK's new novice class shot by Jamie Croydon's Bastardcam attached to his £600 Honda single. The first bit is practice (when Dave Skooter Farm #31 comes past), the rest is heat racing. Sideburn's Ben is in a Bultaco shirt (over one-piece leathers). Jason (some how demoted to newcomers) is in the black and orange leathers with Sideburn on the back. There were seven newcomers. Three of them had never raced dirt track before, inc. Jamie.
Someone left a comment about how to get involved. Well, come see a race, turn up to one of Mike Ryan's Station 165 practice days or get in touch with Peter Boast from Short Track UK to go to his farm for a lesson on the 150 minibikes (the EXACT same way that Chris Carr teaches riders in the USA).
You can enter a race using a day licence (about £12, I think), and entries are £45. Any motorsport is dangerous. Steve Red Max broke his collarbone on Sunday, but I've raced every round except one for over five seasons with nothing but the odd bruise. It's better to live a day like a lion than a lifetime as a lamb. Drop us an email or leave a comment with any more questions. G

Faces Of Rye House

Lovely action shot by Tom Whiting, of Steve Redmax on his Bultaco framed single-speed 920 Norton Commando, before his fall from grace. BP

Holding Back The Tears

Rye House was sweltering; nowhere more so than in my pants. Bringing home my first ever tin-ware (finest Chinese marble and bottle-top chrome); making the 3rd step of the podium in the new for this season 'Novice Class'. There are only 7 riders so far, and it would be great to have a few more have-a-go'ers out on the grid - as long as they are slower than me. Other snaps from the eventful day to follow...BP

Royal Wedding Celebrations

This is going on next Friday in Wigan to celebrate the wedding of the one who looks a bit like Prince Charles (not the one who looks like Di's fancy man) and the tasty posh bird. If you can get to this make sure you do. It's going to be great. The Stags are unforgettable and they have support from The Staches an all-girl garage punk band from Switzerland. Free commemorative plate on entry. G
